ALFRED GWYNNE VANDERBILT IS THE FIRST GUEST

On October 1, 1907, The Plaza opens to the public after spending two years under construction. The young billionaire athlete and member of the illustrious Vanderbilt family, Alfred Gwyne Vanderbilt, arrived in a carriage just as The Plaza’s doors officially opened at 9:00 AM.
