The Swift Go 14 also functions decently well as a computer: it’s equipped with some of the latest Intel Core processors, so it’s no slouch, smoothly handling your daily data entry, document editing, and video conferencing tasks. You can play games if you like, but only lighter titles – the screen’s resolution limits gaming options – and don’t expect to edit 4K videos unless you like food. Some art-minded professionals will nitpick its standard gamut OLED, as it’s not as color-accurate, but other than that, it’s great for everything else.

A typist’s keyboard for the long haul: Acer’s keyboard efforts have come a long way in a short time, and the Go 14 feels very good with a good amount of travel and excellent feedback.

Let’s get this out of the way: with its grey aluminum finish, black keyboard, and black screen bezel, the Acer Swift Go 14 is almost painfully bland. It’s the laptop that dies a thousand deaths: there’s hardly a fresh angle to shoot it from. Back it up a foot, and your brain will tell you the shot is boring, and cue the next frame. There’s just no standout feature that’ll burn itself into your memory, despite the OLED screen. This laptop is not for fashionistas who count down the days until they can replace their existing daily driver with the latest and greatest. But forget about looks for a minute. So what? Who wants their life affected by something as superficial as an object’s appearance? No, the Acer Swift Go 14 matters, because it’s a compelling buy for its target audience: productivity laptop buyers who prefer substance to style.
